Norwich & around

Catton Old Hall is perfectly placed for exploring the fine medieval city of Norwich.  There is something for everyone from the cloistered Norman Cathedral, to its Norman Castle, the medieval Merchant’s House, Dragon Hall, to theatres or art galleries such as Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery or the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts based near the University, or for those who want to wander its historic streets or strolls its riverside walks.  For those in search of some retail therapy, Norwich is in the top 10 places to shop in the UK with its two shopping malls, market and many independent shops.

For keen golfers, the Royal Norfolk golf course is a short drive from Old Catton. For walkers and cyclists, the Norfolk countryside is virtually on the doorstep.  We are just 20 minutes from the capital of the Norfolk Broads, Wroxham for boating day trips or visits to one of the many nature reserves for bird and wildlife watching at Cley, Hickling, Ranworth or Pensthorpe.  The North Norfolk Coast is within easy reach for seal watching trips at Blakeney or for a crab sandwich on Cromer seafront. There are also secret gardens to visit in Norwich itself such as the Plantation Garden and the Bishop's Garden or travel further afield to the exotic coastal garden at East Ruston or explore Norfolk's historic houses such as the National Trust properties, Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall.
